# Week of June 8: v0.9.5 → v0.13.0

> Channels mode — drive ComfyUI's canvas from your own Claude session with no API keys — plus the sidebar panel shipping to the Comfy Registry, audio generation, Civitai MCP pairing, and a wave of community reliability work.

*June 16, 2026*

Eight releases (`v0.9.5` through `v0.13.0`) shipped this week. Headline:
**channels mode** — your own Claude Code session drives a live ComfyUI
sidebar panel over MCP, with no LLM API keys and no per-token billing — and
that panel, [comfyui-mcp-panel](https://registry.comfy.org/nodes/comfyui-agent-panel),
is now live on the Comfy Registry and ComfyUI-Manager.

## New features

### Channels mode — your own session drives the panel, no API keys

`comfyui-mcp --channels` hosts a loopback WebSocket bridge (default port
`9101`, set via `COMFYUI_MCP_BRIDGE_PORT`) that the
[comfyui-mcp-panel](https://github.com/artokun/comfyui-mcp-panel) pack
connects to, and registers a family of `panel_*` MCP tools. The agent —
**your existing Claude Code (or any MCP client) session, subscription-billed**
— edits the graph you're looking at through its normal MCP connection. Every
mutation goes through LiteGraph's change tracking, so ComfyUI's native
**Ctrl+Z** reverts an agent edit exactly like your own.

```
you ⇄ Claude Code ⇄ comfyui-mcp (--channels) ⇄ ws://127.0.0.1:9101 ⇄ panel ⇄ your graph
```

The plugin ships `--channels` **on by default**, so `/plugin install comfy`
wires the bridge and `panel_*` tools automatically. See
[Sidebar Panel](../panel) and
[Channels mode configuration](../configuration#channels--drive-the-comfyui-sidebar-panel-from-your-own-agent-session).

### The panel grew up — and shipped to the Comfy Registry

The graph-control surface went from "add/remove/wire" to full command of the
open tab. New `panel_*` tools this week: `move_node`, `canvas`
(fit / center-on-node / pan / zoom), `run` (queue the open workflow with live
widget values), `get_errors` (last execution error + node validation errors),
`save_workflow` (Ctrl+S or save-as/duplicate), `clear` (whole-canvas wipe as a
single undo), and `get_subgraph` (drill into a subgraph node). `panel_get_graph`
now reports which graph you're viewing and summarizes subgraphs shallowly.

A **multi-tab bridge** means each ComfyUI browser tab holds its own identified
connection — `panel_status` lists every tab, and every graph tool accepts an
optional `tab_id`. Previously a second tab silently stole the single connection.

The pack itself (**v0.3.0**) landed its polished public release: a native
ComfyUI design-system restyle (PrimeVue semantic tokens, theme-tracking),
activity cards for every agent edit, empty-state onboarding, and a "Claude is
working…" indicator — now installable by searching **`comfyui-mcp-panel`** in
ComfyUI-Manager.

### `generate_audio` — music and SFX from a prompt

A new **`generate_audio`** tool generates audio from text, supporting
**ACE Step 1.5** (music with lyrics, structure, key, language) and
**Stable Audio 3** (music, instruments, SFX). It builds the right workflow
graph, auto-selects local models, and enqueues through the existing pipeline,
with two new `create_workflow` templates (`ace_step_15`, `stable_audio_3`).
Requires a ComfyUI build with the built-in audio nodes (≥0.11.1). The tool
reference now documents all **89 tools**. *Contributed by

### Pairs with the official Civitai MCP

A new **`civitai`** plugin skill (16 skills total) pairs the official
[Civitai MCP](https://mcp.civitai.com/mcp) with comfyui-mcp instead of proxying
it: Claude discovers models on Civitai, hands the model-version id to
`download_civitai_model`, then installs/wires/generates locally. The plugin's
`.mcp.json` now declares the Civitai MCP directly, so `/plugin install comfy`
auto-wires `mcp__civitai__*` with no `claude mcp add` and no API key for
browsing (set `CIVITAI_API_TOKEN` to unlock gated downloads).

## Updates

### Remote-mode guards for local-only tools

A new `requireLocalComfyUI()` guard and `RemoteModeError` make local-only
operations fail loudly instead of silently writing to a stale local install
when you're targeting a remote ComfyUI. `install_comfyui`, `start_comfyui`,
`stop_comfyui`, and `restart_comfyui` now throw a clear error against a
non-loopback `--comfyui-url`. *Contributed by

### Faster validation, resumable downloads, provenance locks

A batch of reliability work seeded by
[josephoibrahim/comfy-cozy](https://github.com/josephoibrahim/comfy-cozy):

* **`/object_info` is memoized** for the life of the server process — repeat
  `validate_workflow` / dependency-extraction / `lock_workflow` calls serve from
  cache (comfy-cozy reports a re-validate dropping from \~7 s to \~0.5 s); the
  cache resets on `stop_comfyui` / `restart_comfyui`.
* **Resumable model downloads** — big checkpoint fetches now write to a
  `.partial` file and send `Range: bytes=N-` on retry, so a dropped 40 GB
  download resumes instead of restarting from byte 0.
* **`lock_workflow` + `verify_workflow_lock`** — provenance sidecars that
  SHA-256 every referenced model, record each custom-node pack's git commit, and
  surface structured drift on re-verify.
* **Long jobs no longer killed at 10 minutes** — the watcher timeout is now
  `COMFYUI_JOB_TIMEOUT_S` (default 1800 s), so a 15-minute LTX/WAN render keeps
  its completion notification.

### `model-registry` skill + discoverability

A new **`model-registry`** skill consolidates download URLs + target
`models/` subdirs for every model the skills reference (Flux, WAN, LTX, Qwen,
Z-Image, shared VAEs/text-encoders). The README, npm description, keywords, and
GitHub topics were corrected to the real asset counts (88 tools / 16 skills),
and a new [`/plugin`](../plugin) docs page documents the full
skill/command/agent/hook surface.

## Fixes

* **Panel messages now reach Claude Code for real.** The server was missing the
  experimental `claude/channel` capability and sent a flat custom param shape,
  so the host silently dropped every panel message and only `panel_inbox`
  polling worked. It now declares the capability and sends
  `notifications/claude/channel` with the expected `{ content, meta }` shape.
  (The fuller story — and how the panel later moved to an autonomous background
  agent — is in [this post](../blog/panel-agent-subscription).)
* **`list_local_models` sees `extra_model_paths.yaml` redirects** and works
  against remote/cloud ComfyUI — it now queries ComfyUI's `/models/<dir>` REST
  endpoint first instead of only scanning `${COMFYUI_PATH}/models/`.
  *Seeded by [@joaolvivas](https://github.com/joaolvivas).*
* **`search_custom_nodes`** returns registry results again.

## Thanks

This week leaned heavily on the community — fork work pulled upstream from
[@x-yahya997](https://github.com/x-yahya997) (audio + remote guards),
[josephoibrahim/comfy-cozy](https://github.com/josephoibrahim/comfy-cozy)
(memoization, resumable downloads, provenance locks, job-timeout fix), and
[@joaolvivas](https://github.com/joaolvivas) (`list_local_models`). Thank you.
